Supporting Our Foster Families During COVID-19

Dear Fostering Connections St. Johns Supporters,

I hope you and your families are doing well and staying healthy.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fostering Connections St. Johns is practicing social distancing while still actively supporting our local foster families. We are still providing needed essentials for families and are actively working with local agencies to assess current needs. Our educational programs and all upcoming special events have been postponed until further notice. We will keep you all updated on events as they are rescheduled.

Thank you to all of our supporters who have reached out to us to check on foster families and ask about supporting our foster families during this challenging time. Currently, case workers and Guardian ad Litem staff are still providing services at their offices. Guardian ad Litem volunteers are only doing virtual visits at this time. Most court hearings, with the exception of urgent matters, have been postponed. This is a difficult time for children in foster care, as they are limited to virtual visits only with biological parents and their Guardian ad Litems. They are also separated from their school friends and teachers. Our foster parents are dedicated to providing a loving and positive home environment for the children in their care. Our foster parents, case workers, and Guardian ad Litem staff are working diligently to ensure that all services are provided.

More than ever, our local foster families need your support. Some families and young adults who aged out of foster care are experiencing economic challenges due to COVID-19. Foster Parent Appreciation Month is coming up in May. We want to recognize each of our 100 St. Johns County foster parents with a gift to show our appreciation for the care and dedication they have to helping children in need of safe, loving homes.

You can provide support through the following ways: ✔️Donate to provide needed essentials for foster families who been economically impacted by COVID-19.  ✔️Thank and celebrate our foster parents by donating a gift card for us to give each of our 100 local foster parents at the upcoming Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner in May. You can help a local business and thank a foster parent-it's a win-win! ✔️Like and share our posts on social media to raise awareness.

You can donate at the link below:

Stay tuned for other ways to give support. Thank you for supporting our local foster families! We greatly appreciate your continued support and dedication to our mission. Stay safe!

Kind Regards,

Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
