Dear Fostering Connections Supporters,
I hope you and your families had a wonderful summer. It is hard to believe it is already September. Summer went by quickly this year. For our supporters with children, I hope they are having a great start to the school year.
It was a busy summer here at Fostering Connections! We had three Career Readiness Academy sessions with nineteen students participating. Our annual Back to School Bash event was so much fun! There was a great need for backpacks and school supplies this year due to rising inflation. Fostering Connections distributed 300 backpacks to youth impacted by foster care in grades Pre-K-12 across northeast Florida- our largest number yet! Many thanks to all of our donors and community partners for making our Back to School Drive a great success!
We have many programs and events during the fall season ahead with educational programming and special events. Our Career Readiness Academy students have been busy completing their job shadowing and internship experiences. Registration is now live for our College Readiness Academy, which will be held on October 15 at Flagler College. It is a great opportunity for high school students in foster care to begin planning for college and learn about the college experience. Stay tuned for more information about our Fall 2022 Career Readiness Academy sessions!
During the month of September, we are excited to be the beneficiary of Break My Soul: Backyard Barbeque Series, organized by local Chef Tyrone Bennett and being held on September 26 at the Classic Car Museum in St. Augustine. Our Events Committee is busy planning for our upcoming Foster Friends 5Kish & Fun Run, being held on November 5 at Beachwalk Club. I look forward to seeing all of our Foster Friends at these two great events this fall to raise funds for our programming.
I am continuously amazed by our dedicated board members, advisory council members, donors, and volunteers. Thank you for all you do to support Fostering Connections. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Kind Regards,
Aubrie Simpson-Gotham
